In an unexpected twist, a touch of French countryside charm has emerged in the heart of Silicon Valley, California. This San Jose Remodel represents a homeowner's dream turned reality, merging classic French glamor with elegant, antique accents in a stunning contemporary setting.
A Majestic Entrance: Gateway to Elegance
The transformation begins at the exterior, where individual stacked stones redefine the home's facade and chimney. The entryway, encased in Bluestone, leads to stunning wood and glass front doors. Upon entering, guests are greeted with a spectacular white oak and iron staircase, drawing eyes upwards to the double-paneled ceiling that echoes the grandeur of Provencal estates.
Grand Room and Kitchen: Heart of the Chateau
The heart of "Chateau Siliconé" lies in its grand great room and kitchen. The original dated layout was reinvented into an open-concept living space, complete with sun-soaked panoramic views. The once-separate kitchen and living areas now flow seamlessly, unified by the removal of walls and a boxy staircase. A newly designed kitchen boasts an oversized island, extended storage, and counter space, all visible from the front door. Vaulted ceilings and arched entryways infuse the space with character, reminiscent of a classic French country home.
Kitchen: A Culinary Delight
The kitchen sets the stage for this French-inspired design, featuring painted maple cabinets, an apron-front sink, and a luxurious marble island countertop. The black soapstone backsplash and a plaster hood above the dual la flange range add sophistication. Preserving the home's original charm, the solid oak front doors were repurposed as statement-making pantry doors.
Upper-Level Tranquility
Ascending the white oak staircase, the reconfigured and enlarged master suite. The master suite is a haven of relaxation, with French doors opening to a private deck, a chrome freestanding tub, and a marble shower. Heated floors and a heated towel rack add to the luxury, complemented by a spacious walk-in closet.

"Once we selected May, we went through the design and planning process. As part of May’s process, we selected all the materials prior to the project start which allowed May’s team to stay on schedule because they are not waiting on materials. May Construction provided excellent companies to work with in order to source the materials needed to match our design. During the design phase, The May Team brought in engineers and other specialties to evaluate our property. This allowed May Construction to develop blueprints and plans for easier city permit approval. In the weeks leading up to the start of construction, we were given a detailed scheduled which listed out the weekly goals and a cost breakdown by category. The May Team even sent out letters to our neighbors informing them of the project.
If we ever do another remodel, we wouldn’t hesitate calling May Construction again. The May Team and their sub-contractors stand by the work and take pride in their craft. We could not have asked for a better company than May because they gave us our dream home."
