Kitchen Addition and Remodel San Jose

Kitchen addition and Remodel

Sterling

The clients in this home were looking to create a space that more functional, bright and transitional.

The existing kitchen was small and dark with one little window and a soffit that loomed over the countertop. There was very little storage and space was limited. Although the kitchen and the family room were adjacent, there was a step down to the family room the further complicated the design.

We found the solution that best fit the clients need began with a small addition to the kitchen and family room. To add the natural light to the space we installed a skylight in the kitchen and enlarged the kitchen window. For accent and task lighting , decorative pendants were suspended from the inside of the ceiling recess. Recessed can lights were also added as well as under cabinet lighting that highlighted the glass backsplash.

We also created a walk in pantry that worked well for added storage and function. To help match the unique floor layout we placed the pantry door at an angle. The new addition also allowed for island eating, dining for 6 and a designated wine storage and serving station.

"We were extremely lucky to have chosen May Construction for a significant addition and house remodel. Greg took all surprises out of the process by working with us to create a very complete plan, including all contingencies (e.g., potential need to upgrade electric panel). In the end, we got exactly what we had hoped for and on schedule and budget. Greg and Debbie are very high integrity people, as are their talented staff and proven contractors. I highly recommend them."
