We had a fantastic experience with May Construction. Our project was so major that we moved out for over 9 months, and with 3 young children, it was critical that we not encounter the famous contractor delays. May Construction's planning, professional and prompt handling of problems, communication, subcontractor management and excellent project management kept everything on track. . .
(CONTINUED) We wholeheartedly recommend May Construction, a well-managed, professional, thorough, and highly effective business, a real standout in the construction world. It'd have been unthinkable getting through our project without them.
Some of the things that differentiated May Construction from other contractors:
- Methodical analysis of the project. Greg May walked through each room one at a time, asked very astute questions, brought many subs to check out the job during the bidding process, and was able to give us a thorough and realistic assessment of the work involved.
- Timeline. May Construction gave us a detailed schedule, kept *us* on track with decision-making, stayed on top of weather changes, material deliveries, subcontractors, and keeping us updated when inevitable things came up. NEVER A DOWN DAY. Some days up to 5 trades were working on our house. Meticulous project management made certain the project stayed on track.
- Quality work. Much of the work is done by May Construction's employees, who are invested in doing a good job and take pride in their work. Scrupulous oversight by our eagle-eyed Superintendent Ramon was a tremendous factor in the outcome. May Construction takes their Diamond Certified rating seriously and works hard to maintain it.
- Office support. Someone was always there to answer, answer email, coordinate deliveries, relay urgent messages, convey information to subs, and do regular billing -- enabling the guys doing the work to do the work!
- Highly effective communication: We exchanged email frequently throughout the day, covered questions and avoided many delays. Questions or issues were answered immediately, within a few hours, not days.
- Jobsite meetings. We met with Greg, Ramon (Superintendent) and often subs every week at the jobsite to review progress. We didn't have to insist or beg, they welcomed it!
- Working with the city and inspectors. May Construction kept up with inspections, handled a difficult inspector with courtesy and turned him into an asset.
- Focus on finishing our *home*, not just a set of tasks. Every closet shelf, light fixture, towel bar, knob -- done. May Construction understood how grateful we'd be moving back into our house and relaxing right away, without anything left to tie up. The 30-day punch list was a relief too, things always come up and we didn't have to drag them back. They actually wanted to come back and make sure we were happy with the final product.
We had been toying with the idea of a major remodel for many years. We'd researched and reviewed many proposals, in the end we chose May Construction for a couple reasons.
First, we had watched two other major remodels that May Construction performed for our neighbors several years prior to ours. Both neighbors were satisfied with the quality and customer service they'd received from Greg May and his crew. . .
(CONTINUED) Second, we were impressed with how closely the architect and contractor worked with one another to bring our vision to life, there were no surprises!!
In addition, we were pleased with the attention to safety. Even though our remodel was major, the crew made sure to take their time and insured the construction site was clean and safe every day prior to wrapping it up.
Finally, the transformation of our house was amazing. We are very pleased with the end result, it's everything we hoped for and more.
May Construction did our whole house remodel, and they were wonderful to work with. From the initial planning stages all our choices were explained clearly with the associated costs so that we could decide what changes we wanted to make to the house. Our contract was very detailed in what work was to be done and all the changes that we decided to make and their costs during the project were clearly defined; there were no surprises when the bill came.. . .
(CONTINUED) The May Construction crews were on time, were nice to have in the house, and cleaned up before they left everyday; these were all especially important since we lived in the house during the remodel. They came to work everyday until the end of the project, and if one member of the team was away on vacation I was sure who would be covering for them while they were gone. Our beautiful new home was completed on time and on budget. We heartily recommend May Construction, we had a great experience with them.
We have used May Construction for several of our remodeling needs. They provide excellent service by being extremely neat during the process; giving good suggestions on remodeling procedures and plan layouts; and producing extremely high quality results. In addition, they are one of the few construction companies that provide a timeline and sticks to the timeline without fail. We are very happy with their service and will recommend them to everyone we know.

May Construction was great! They developed a thorough schedule up front and then adhered to it throughout the project. We had heard horror stories about contractors not showing up for weeks at a time, on the contrary, there was always someone working at our house during the project. We feel that our project was completed efficiently and on time. The work teams were proficient, took a lot of pride in their work and were very responsive to our questions. We had a tremendously positive experience with our home remodel. We really appreciated the professionalism, expertise, and constant communication throughout our project. They maintained, if not exceeded, the schedule throughout. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was meticulous. When deliveries of products like tiles or lightings did not appear to be right, we were immediately informed; thus, actions were quickly taken to avoid time loss. Any large projects like our remodeling will of course be running into some issues at times; but with May Construction, our issues were minimized because of the way your staff handled them smoothly and professionally.
During our selection process to find a contractor, May Construction was the only one of the three contractors we interviewed who took the time to look at our design plans carefully and reviewed it with us and our architect. Even after the project was completed, a year later when the hot/cold water dispenser broke, May Construction immediately sent out someone to replace and install a new unit. The damaged hardwood floor area around the sink was also fixed without charges. What a great customer service! There is no doubt May Construction Inc. will be contacted if we ever have other remodeling projects.
